This section provides information on the existing bilateral or regional agreements subscribed by the EU with each one of the Latin American countries Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
- Framework Agreement for trade and economic cooperation EU-Argentina, entry into force in 1990.
- EU-Mercosur Interregional Framework Cooperation Agreement, signed in 1995.
- Agreement for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, signed in 1999. Considers the bilateral framework agreement.
- EU-Mercosur Association Agreement (which includes a FTA), political agreement reached in 2019.
- Framework Agreement for Cooperation EU-Brazil, entry into force in 1995.
- EU-Mercosur Interregional Framework Cooperation Agreement, signed in 1995.
- Agreement for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, signed in 2004 and in force since 2007. Considers the bilateral framework agreement. Renewal in 2022.
- EU-Mercosur Association Agreement (which includes a FTA), political agreement reached in 2019.
- EU-Chile Association Agreement (which included a FTA), into force in 2003.
- Agreement for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, signed in 2003 and entered into force in 2007.
- EU-Colombia Trade Agreement, signed in 2012 and provisionally applied since 08/2013.
- EU-Mexico Economic Partnership, Political Coordination and Cooperation Agreement (also known as Global Agreement), entry into force 2000.
- Negotiations between the EU and Mexico for the modernization of their trade agreement launched in 05/2016. Agreement in principle on a new EU-Mexico Association Agreement, reached in 2018, complemented by commitments on public procurement in 2020. Currently undergoing internal procedures for signature.
- Agreement for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, signed in 2004 and in force in 2005.
- EU-Peru Comprehensive Trade Agreement, signed in 2012 and provisionally applied since 03/2013.
- Framework Agreement for Cooperation, signed in 1992. Follow-up of this agreement entails meetings of the EU-Uruguay Joint Commission, the commission met in 2017 and next meeting planned for 2021.
- EU-Mercosur Interregional Framework Cooperation Agreement, signed in 1995, entry into force 1999, includes provisions on trade cooperation.
- EU-Mercosur Association Agreement (which includes a FTA), political agreement reached in 2019.
