EU-Latin America bilateral or regional agreements

This section provides information on the existing bilateral or regional agreements subscribed by the EU with each one of the Latin American countries Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.

ARGENTINA
  • Framework Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement, into force in 1990.
  • EU-Mercosur Framework Cooperation Agreement, signed in 1995.
  • EU-Mercosur Association Agreement (which includes a FTA), on-going negotiations.

BRAZIL
  • EU-Mercosur Association Agreement (which includes a FTA), on-going negotiations.

CHILE
  • EU-Chile Association Agreement (which included a FTA), into force since 02/2003.

COLOMBIA
  • EU-Colombia comprehensive Trade Agreement, provisionally applied since 08/2013.

MEXICO
  • EU-Mexico Global Agreement, negotiations for modernization launched in 05/2016.

PERU
  • EU-Peru comprehensive Trade Agreement, provisionally applied since 03/2013.

URUGUAY
  • EU-Mercosur Institutional Cooperation Agreement, signed in 1992.
  • EU-Mercosur Interregional Framework Cooperation Agreement, signed in 1995.
  • EU-Mercosur Association Agreement (which includes a FTA), concluding negotiations.
